Museum Artefacts

Shortly before opening to the public, we were asked to make digital records of four important archaeological features. This was a last chance to create up-to-date, precise 3D documentation before access to the site was restricted and the moment lost.
Concept
The client needed a detailed record of these valuable historical finds. Completing the survey and documentation would let them proceed with the vital conservation work before displaying the remains for visitors.
Scope of Work
Above all, the site required a very careful touch and well-considered approach. We needed to access fragile tombs, narrow wells and ancient falajs. Therefore, to preserve the features and keep dust to an absolute minimum, we adapted our equipment, lighting and approach to the site. However, we recorded the areas with both photogrammetry and 3D laser scanning — and the client received detailed, georeferenced 3D models and orthophotos that now stand in for places you can’t easily revisit
