RUSSIAN PAVILION

The client had completed the structure and cladding to this uniquely shaped building, and we were asked to provide a highly detailed scan and REVIT model. A particular focus was to identify the precise placement of all the cladding rivets and mechanical fasteners before the façade could be added.
Workflow
We began by planning the scan scope and establishing control points and took multiple laser scans to ensure the accurate capture of the building’s complex curves and the fine detail of rivets and fasteners. Using the resulting point cloud, we developed a 3D model of the structure and cladding, carefully annotating the placement of mechanical fasteners. Rigorous quality control checks ensured the model matched the scan data and provided the client with a reliable basis for installing the decorative skin.
Result
The façade was completed with addition of over 40km of striking, interwoven multicoloured aluminium tubes. These contoured perfectly the dome-in-dome design which became an icon in the Expo site.
